Apr. 28, 1991 – The Magical World of Disney aired “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.”
Apr. 28, 1995 – The ABC-TV sitcom Family Matters debuted part-1 of the episode “We’re Going to Disney World.” (Steve Urkel was a finalist in an Innoventions contest and the Winslow family was invited along for the trip.) (Part-2 aired May 5, 1995)
Apr. 28, 1995 – The Disney/Hollywood Pictures film “A Pyromaniac’s Love Story” was released.
Apr. 28, 1997 – The “Cinderella’s Royal Table” opened in Cinderella Castle replacing King Stefan’s Hall in the Magic Kingdom at WDW.
Apr. 28, 2000 – Colleagues and fans gathered at the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences to pay tribute to Disney animator, Marc Davis, who died on January 12, 2000.
Apr. 28, 2000 – Epcot’s 7th Annual “International Flower & Garden Festival” began at WDW. (Ran through June 11, 2000)
Apr. 28, 2001 – Disney’s House of Mouse aired “Not So Goofy.”
Apr. 28, 2001 – The Los Angeles Times and the Orange County Register both reported that Disneyland’s Rocket Rods would never reopen.
Apr. 28, 2002 – The “Captain’s Tower” Landmark at the center of the Downtown Disney Marketplace closed. (Replaced by Disney Pin Traders)
Apr. 28, 2004 – Comcast announced that it has withdrawn its multi-billion dollar bid to buy Walt Disney.
Apr. 28, 2005 – It was announced that a 5th grade class from Tradewinds Elementary School in Coconut Creek, Fl. was the winner of the 2005 Jiminy Cricket Environmentality Challenge! (The students arrived at WDW for an overnight stay at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, and an evening party held in their honor at Epcot.)
