Is it possible to purchase an annual pass but not activate it, then book an AP rate for a room, but not start the clock ticking on the AP until arrival?

Hope this question makes sense.

Your question does make sense and, yes, you can do this. The rules only state you need to have an active annual pass when you check in.

We've actually made annual pass room only reservations before we've even purchased the voucher.

Yes, we've done it that way several times.

So does this mean I don't even have to buy the AP at booking, just buy it the day of arrival before check in?

We've always purchased in advance and had our vouchers in hand at check in. Sorry, can't answer your question.

You are correct-- you do not have to have the AP pass when you book. I've even seen hit and miss whether they will even ask you for it. However, you better at least have the voucher because if you check in without it and they ask for it, you will pay rack rate. We've always had it and activated it after check in, but did have the voucher to show them. Their policy may have changed since the last time we did that so be prepared.

That's correct. And I've been asked to show mine. :(

We've booked AP rates several times but have never been asked to show the AP or voucher. However, if you are asked and do not have the AP or voucher, they can increase your room rate to rack rate so it's better to have it in hand when checking in.

How ironic - I just rebooked with an AP rate this morning, saving another $210 on my resort. Good luck getting your rate Scar!
