Apr. 16, 1961 – The Disney TV show aired Episode 15 of “Texas John Slaughter: Trip to Tuscon.”
Apr. 16, 1964 – Disney’s “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” exhibit past testing at WED headquarters in California, and was then shipped to New York for the World’s Fair.
Apr. 16, 1991 – The Disney TV series “STAT” began airing. (Ended May 21, 1991)
Apr. 16, 1997 – It was reported that although Disney’s newest animated film, “Hercules” was still two months away from debut in the U.S. theaters, a sequel is already in production.
Apr. 16, 1999 – Epcot’s 6th Annual “International Flower & Garden Festival” began at WDW. (Ran through May 30)
Apr. 16, 2001 - Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge opened at WDW.
Apr. 16, 2004 – Epcot’s 11th annual “International Flower & Garden Festival” began at WDW. (Ran through June 6)
Apr. 16, 2004 – Christy Carlson Romano (the current Belle in Disney’s Broadway Show “Beauty and the Beast”) appeared as a guest on WB-11 “Morning News.”
Apr. 16, 2007 – Disney announced that Disneyland’s fleet of antique passenger trains have been converted from diesel to biofuel. The switch saved as much as 150,000 gallons of diesel fuel each year, while potentially reducing carbon dioxide emissions by up to 80 percent.
Apr. 16, 2008 – Disney Theatrical Productions presented a celebration of the work of composer Alan Menken at a cabaret performance at the Hudson Theatre (in N.Y.C.) hosted by Disney executive Thomas Schumacher.The host of Broadway stars paying homage to Menken included Ashley Brown, Sierra Boggess, John Strickland, Sean Palmer, and Donny Osmond.
