New Hitchhiking Ghost Effects

Reports are starting to come in that the new effects added to the Haunted Mansion have been unvieled today. So far nothing but rave reviews :thumbsup:

I saw the YouTube clip of this, and I am floored! It seems it's virtually impossible for Disney to touch The Haunted Mansion without sending the fanboys on a rampage. Just look at the heated discussion surrounding the new interactive cue. But this time, with this new effect, the Imagineers may have pleased everybody.

The ONLY thing I could see someone complaining about is that the ending isn't "scary" anymore. It's a nice little plus they did for an effect and they could have done alot worse though, so two thumbs up :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Now Disney, stop working on the Haunted Mansion and fix half of the other rides at the Magic Kingdom!!! :D

I can see this argument. In fact, it's more lighthearted as you enter (with the new queue) AND as you exit. Some of the creepiness has definitely been taken out.

That said, my 11 year old LOVED the new queue. I think that's the target audience. :secret:

Just watched the video and I agree it is a really good addition. And if i understand everything is digital so it wouldnt be hard to add new material for special occasions or just update the animations.

We went over tonight to ride and we found it to be very fun...a nice freshen up to a classic ride.
And the new entrance is pretty cute too...we didn't expolore every single thing because it's a work/school night so time was limited, but what we saw we thought was pretty neat. :thumbsup:

The video I saw looked incredible. I haven't seen complaints here yet, but I wonder if the complaints you are reading is the "traditionalists" that want everything preserved like it was in 1971.

Watching the video makes me wish my vacation would get here faster. Awesome effect!!!
Sometimes I feel like I ruin the magic for myself when I look at video's before getting there but it also get's me excited about going as well.
My wife's still debating whether or not to watch it.

my friend and I rode it on Sunday 4/3 and the stupid screen was up still. THen on our last night 4/9 our last ride of the night was the HM and I nearly jumped out of my doombuggy when we got to the infamous "screen" and it was GONE and there was a hitchhiking ghost on top of my doombuggy trying to cut my head off! I was so excited to see it finally unveiled!:thumbsup: It was cool and I didn't think it took anything away from the 1971 version. He still "followed me home". hehe!:skull:
