Mar. 11, 1962 – Disney’s part-1 of the 3-part television show “The Prince and the Pauper” aired. (Part-2 aired Mar. 18, 1962, part-3 aired Mar. 25, 1962)
Mar. 11, 1964 – The Golden Globe Awards were presented at the Cocoanut Grove, Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, Ca. Although Hayley Mills was nominated for Best Motion Picture Actress-Musical Comedy (for her performance in Disney’s “Summer Magic”), the award went to Shirley MacLaine (for her role in Irma la Douce).
Mar. 11, 1966 – Several landowners (all fully-owned subsidiaries of the Walt Disney Co.) petition the Circuit Court of the Ninth Judicial Court, which serves Orange County, Fl. for the creation of the Reedy Creek Drainage District. The Drainage District will be incorporated on May 13 as a public corporation. (The land within WDW will become part of the Reedy Creek Improvement District-which allow Disney to exercise quasi-governmental powers over the area.)
Mar. 11, 1969 – Actor and singer Terrance Howard was born in Chicago, Il. (though he would be raised in Cleveland, Oh.) He was the voice of James (Tiana’s father) in Disney’s 2009 “The Princess and the Frog.”
Mar. 11, 1973 – The Disney TV show “The Little Shepard Dog of Catalina” aired.
Mar. 11, 1977 – The Disney film “The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh”, was released.
Mar. 11, 1977 – The Disney movie “The Littlest Horse Thieves” was released in theaters.
Mar. 11, 1983 – The Disney film “Trenchcoat” was released.
Mar. 11, 1983 – Disney’s special cartoon “Winnie the Pooh and a Day for Eeyore” was released.
Mar. 11, 1990 – Disney’s 3-hour TV movie “Sky High” aired. (Mar. 11, 1990 (120 min.) and Aug. 26, 1990 (60 min.)).
