Mar. 5, 1957 – Rose pitman of Visalia, Ca. won 1st place of the California State Pancake Race held at Disneyland’s Main Street U.S.A. (Sponsored by The Quaker Oats Co. and Disneyland)
Mar. 5, 1961 – The Disney TV show aired “The Coyote’s Lament.”
Mar. 5, 1962 – Singer/actress Taylor Dayne, who was featured in Disney’s Broadway Show “Aida” was born Leslie Wunderman, in Baldwin, New York.
Mar. 5, 1962 – The Golden Globe Awards were presented at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, Ca. Although nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her performance in Disney’s “The Parent Trap,” Hayley Mills was edged out by actress Rosalind Russell for her performance in A Majority of One. West Side Story won for Best Motion Picture – Musical, beating out Disney’s “Babes in Toyland.” Best Motion Picture – Comedy was also given to A Majority of One, again beating out “The Parent Trap.”
Mar. 5, 1967 – Disney’s part-1 of its 3-part TV movie “Atta Girl, Kelly!” aired. (Part-2 Mar. 12, part-3 Mar. 19, 1967)
Mar. 5, 1978 – The Disney TV show aired “Race for Survival.”
Mar. 5, 1983 – The Journey into Imagination ride opened in Epcot.
Mar. 5, 1991 – The Disney TV Channel TV series “Avomlea” began airing. (Ended Dec. 8, 1996)
Mar. 5, 1993 – Disney’s TV series “Where I Live” began airing on ABC. (Ended Nov. 20, 1993)
Mar. 5, 1993 – The Disney/Hollywood Pictures film “Swing Kids” was released.
