Reserving ride times

What's this I hear about WDW spending millions of $$$$ on a new system that will allow us to reserve ride times? I'm sure this has been discussed here...I did a quick search to no avail...don't know what wording to use. Is this new system supposed to be a good thing? I'm not excited about it.

In googling it....it looks like this was just announced. They've been working on it. It's costing the same as it cost to build the new cruise ship. All that's been released is that it will allow us to reserve ride times online. #1- I really hate all the planning out that we have to do for a Disney vacation...book DVC 7 months out or 11 months out...ADRs 6 months out...etc. #2- I have a feeling there will be a charge for this and if you don't pay...then you wait in terrible lines.
