Feb. 8, 1968 – The Disney film “Blackbeard’s Ghost” was released.
Feb. 8, 1974 – Ringo Starr’s single “You’re 16” was released. The tune is written by Richard and Robert Sherman (of Disney songwriting fame.)
Feb. 8, 1974 – “A Fare of the Heart” Valentine’s Party took place at WDW’s Magic Kingdom. (The special evening event featured Tony Orlando and Dawn, The Grass Roots, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, and Gabriel’s Brass.
Feb. 8, 1980 – The Disney film “Midnight Madness” was released without the Disney name on it, with the hope it would reach Teenagers and young adults who often shied away from Disney films.
Feb. 8, 1986 – The “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Alice’s Tea Party” attractions both opened in Tokyo Disneyland.
Feb. 8, 1987 – Disney’s 2-hour movie “The Liberators” aired.
Feb. 8, 1988 – Disney’s television special “Disney’s Magic in the Magic Kingdom” aired on NBC-TV.
Feb. 8, 1993 - The TV show “Blossom”, starring Mayim Bialik, Joey Lawrence, and Ted Wass, aired the episode of “Mice and Men” which took place at Disneyland.
Feb. 8, 2001 - The California Adventure Park at Disneyland opened along with 3 lands in addition to Paradise Pier, Hollywood Pictures Backlot, The Golden State, and the Grand California Hotel.
Feb. 8, 2001 – The “Gone Hollywood” Shop in Hollywood Pictures Backlot opened at Disneyland’s California Adventure.
