My DD 11 has been losing her hair in clumps for the past week. Took her to pediatrician who had no answers but recommend a dermatologist. Finally found a dermatologist that can see her tomorrow (most were 1 - 6 months away) but we're expecting an ice/snow storm overnight which is why I was able to get the appointment - from the cancellations. Please send pixie dust that we can keep the appointment and find out what's going on and put a stop to it!

Enjoying it more than I thought I would. I was a little overwhelmed by the size at first and, for the first hour or so, I didn't like it at all. Now it's grown on me and I think it's a great resort. Thanks for asking and keep us posted on your daughter.

Weather was a factor but we made the appointment. She was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata. There's no cure and treatment options are limited but hair can grow back, usually within 1 year for 80% of people affected with better odds for children. It's not linked to any other disease process so other than the hair loss, she's healthy. We were given a steriod cream to see if that helps and she goes back in 1 month.

I'm very glad to hear its nothing too serious Kathy. That doesn't sound like much fun, especially for a young lady, but I'm glad to hear it's not life or health threatening.
