Yesterday we woke up early & had a surprisingly quiet breakfast at Whispering Canyon to start off dear sisters birthday. Afterwards we took the bus over to the Magic Kingdom arriving shortly after opening to a sea of people at the bag check. Talk about a complete 360 from what we encountered the past 4 days! Since I had no bag I went & got our tickets because our annual passes had expired as well. After getting through & into the park we made our way to Fantasyland.

It was noticeably busy compared to other times we've rode Peter Pan 1st thing in the am, there actually was about a 10 min wait. Afterwards we rode Small World with a small wait. We then walked over to Winnie the Pooh & rode with about a 15 min wait. On our way to Tomorrowland sister was chased by a Happy Birthday singing Push (talking & musical trash can) where we got some fastpasses for Space Mtn & rode TTA with no wait, Carousel of Progress with no wait, & Buzz Lightyear with about a 15 min wait. When we returned to ride Space Mtn the standby line was quite large, but it still had only a 30 min posted time that I didn't think was bad.

After riding Space Mtn we walked through an extremely crowded Minnies House & Toontown Fair where we hopped the train & rode it around a full circle until finally getting off at Frontierland. Big Thunder had a posted wait of 60 mins so we got a fastpass & went & rode Pirates with about a 15 min wait. After that we grabbed a midday snack at Pecis Bill's & went to find a place to watch the 3:00 parade (which hits Luberty Square about 3:15, lol).

When the parade ended we returned to ride Big Thunder with a throng of people, it took a good 10 mins with our fastpass. When we exited we stopped to watch the Splash Mtn boats come down that were running under rehab & much to my surprise there were lap bars in the logs!! I was taken aback because they looked really low & I'm 6'3" & could barely fit my legs in as it was so it made me wonder if I'd be able to ride my fav attraction anymore.

After viewing the modified logs for a few mins we went decided to hit the Main Street shops on our way out of the park & returned to our room to freshen up before taking the boat to Contemporary Resort for dinner at Chef Mickeys. The end of dinner was perfectly timed to watch Wishes from the viewing area there & a nice end to our Disney birthday celebration.

Too bad the crowds caught up with you - you were having such great luck!

I did recently hear about the addition of the bars at Splash Mountain.

Sounds like a nice birthday! Too funny about Push!

I was hoping that your luck with the crowd levels would hold out! Despite the increased numbers of people, you were able to get a lot accomplished. Thanks for the update on the lap bars at Splash, it's the first that I have heard of them being installed.

Wonder why Monday was such a heavy day. I've heard several reports about unusually heavy crowds on Monday. Odd?

Sounds like you were still able to get a lot done. I've been to MK on days like that were it just seems SLAMMED and there and TONS of people milling around and crowding the streets, yet the attractions don't seem to have waits that reflect the crowds. An odd phenomenon indeed, but one I have seen on several occasions.
