Jan. 18, 1990 – Disney’s 12-minute educational film “Winnie the Pooh’s ABC of Me” was released.
Jan. 18, 1991 – The Disney film “White Fang” was released.
Jan. 18, 1991 – Eastern Airlines, the official airline of WDW during the 1970’s, officially shut down.
Jan. 18, 1992 – “Beauty and the Beast” won a Golden Globe Award for Best Picture, Comedy/Musical (the first animated feature to do so). The animated feature also won for Best Original Score (Alan Menken) and Best Original Song (“Beauty and the Beast”).
Jan. 18, 1994 - The Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress opened with its new name after being updated at WDW. The original name was Carousel of Progress.
Jan. 18, 1996 - John Lasseter received a Special Achievement Award for his work on the Disney film “Toy Story”.
Jan. 18, 1996 – The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voted to award director/writer John Lasseter a Special Achievement Award for his contribution to the Disney/Pixar film, Toy Story.
Jan. 18, 1997 - The “Carnival Castle” was unveiled at Disneyland Paris for the parks 5th anniversary.
Jan. 18, 1998 – Disney’s 2-hour movie “Ruby Bridges” aired on The Wonderful World of Disney.
