Jan. 15, 1970 – The display of Walt Disney’s Awards “Legacy of Walt Disney” were exhibited on Main Street at Disneyland. (Ended Feb. 11, 1973)
Jan. 15, 1975 - Carousel of Progress opened in the Magic Kingdom.
Jan. 15, 1975 - Space Mountain opened in the Magic Kingdom at WDW, and the 1st official ride was taken by Colonel James Irwin, the pilot of the Lunar Module on Apollo XV.
Jan. 15, 1986 - The Living Seas Pavilion opened at EPCOT and was presented by United Technologies along with Coral Reef Restaurant and the film “Animated Atlas of the World” explaining the geographical and meteorological aspects of the ocean, along with its 5.7 million gallon aquarium which is the largest in the world.
Jan. 15, 1986 – “The Seas” story about the oceans mysterious depths, and its effects on our lives debuted at the Living Seas Pavilion in Epcot at WDW.
Jan. 15, 1986 – The film “Suited for the Sea” began airing in The Living Seas Pavilion in Epcot at WDW.
Jan. 15, 1986 – The “Coral Reef Restaurant” opened in the Living Seas Pavilion in Epcot at WDW.
Jan. 15, 1989 – Disney’s TV mini-series “Wild Jack” began airing. (Also aired July 9, and July 16, 1989)
Jan. 15, 1990 – The Disney TV pilot “Blue Bayou” aired on NBC.
Jan. 15, 1990 – CEO Michael Eisner announced plans to expand the WDW theme parks, and to add a fourth park during the 1990’s. He also stated that a pavilion from the Soviet Union would hopefully be added at Epcot, and that 16 new attractions were planned for the Disney-MGM Studios.
