I got an email with a PIN code for the week we want to go to Disney (Dec. 17-23, 2011)...it says 35% off....do these really save a lot of money or would you get the same price just by getting a quote from the Disney site.....

I am a little confused on one thing, it says 35 to 40% off select resorts and ask about packages that include dining and tickets...so do they only discount the cost of the room or the total package?

I'm not sure about that. I'm sure someone else will be a long to answer it. I wish we would get one we are going the week of Nov 27th.

Not sure about the pin code you received, but the one I received today is 40% off Deluxe room rates (and other percentages for different categories). That would be a discount on room rate only, but you can book a package with tickets and dining at the same time.
We used a 40% pin code last year and saved - or, at least, I was able to upgrade our hotel choice. Other discounts were offered after I booked, but the 40% was still better than the other offered discounts.

The discount is for the cost of the room only. You can add tickets and DDP to create your package..but the % is off of the room only.
I used one on both my May and my Dec trip. I can't remember what I saved in may but I got 40% off my moderate room in Dec.

Don't mean to steal the thread, but what gives here? We have been going to Disney since '98, and we have NEVER received a pin code?

I'm not sure exactly why I received one they seem to be random. I do know I always fill out the surveys with my email address that they send after your vacation and that's how I received this PIN via email....

I get the pin codes. They are random. We are Disney Visa holders, and I am signed up on their website. No idea the rhyme or reason to getting them...
Yes, I have used them, I think two times, and our trip last December saved us a ton!!! So yes, they can be good. You still have to do your homework and run the numbers...

We've gotten pin codes that mimic public discounts, except the pin code comes to me before the public discount is released. We've also gotten pin codes that are good for the entire year that are independent of public discounts. Those are the good ones!

This time the PIN code I have for spring is 5% better than all of the public codes I have seen - not a lot better, but a buck is a buck! And I had it before the public codes came out. So it can be better but not always a lot.

I received a pin code this week for our scheduled time 11/26 - 12/4/11. 11/26 was blacked out due to the holiday I believe, so we are using a AAA room only discount for that night. Then using the pin code for 11/27 - 12/4, with just park hopper tickets (no dining), already has saved me $830 from my rack rate quote I got when I originally booked the trip. (Thanks Wendy at MJ!)

I received mine from Disney Destinations. Ours is for 40% off Deluxe so we will use this for our trip to WL in Sept

I would say continue to look at all the e-mails and mailings you receive from WDW. I did not know what to look for and I receive one for the first time yesterday. Had I not read these threads I would have thrown the code I go yesterday away because we were not planning on going this year with my family.

I am going to Disney Dec. 1st - 15th. The pin code dates are 11/27-12/3 and 12/11-12/24. Could i receive the discount for the entire length of my stay or only during the dates mentioned?

Pin code savings susally come off the resort rates and do not include tickets or dining. If you have a pin code, and a free dining otption is also offered, be sure to compare the savings and choose the best discount. We did free dining this past year and it was a definite $ saver for us.

Only for the dates given. You may apply a separate discount for the non-pin code rate days but you can't combine discount codes on the same day. Plus, you will need to have multiple reservation numbers. It sounds a lot more complicated than it really is because it's totally worth it for the savings!
For example, you'll probably have one reservation for 12/1-12/3, another for 12/4-12/10 and yet another for 12/11-12/15. The 12/4-12/10 days will not be covered by the pin code rate but are eligible for other discounts, if available. You will not need to change rooms and can check in for all three reservations at the same time (at least I have been able to in the past). If you're buying a package it gets more complicated because the tickets and dining credits are split up by the different reservations. If you're not purchasing a package you shouldn't even notice having separate reservations.
Hope this helps!

Just booked my trip for Dec. 2011 at the Beach Club and the pin code saved me almost $1,200.

For us, the best public rate for the POLY for Sept is 30% off. The Pin we got via e-mail gave us 40% off.
That extra 10% added up to quite a savings over 14 days for our family.

Yeah, this has been a heavily discussed topic. You really have to do the math for yourself as every family has a different number of adults/children.
For us 2 adults 2 kids 1 infant, DDP costs us 113.96 a day.
If we are staying at a value resurt, that is a much better deal than the room discount.
40% off at the poly is saving us 208 a day - thus quite a bit better deal than free dining for our family.
