Jan. 1, 1977 - Bob Allen (originally a ride operator in Disneyland in 1955) was named VP of WDW.
Jan. 1, 1978 - Treasure Island changed its name to Discovery Island.
Jan. 1, 1978 – Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade made a rare appearance outside of a theme park, when it entertained fans during the half time show of the Annual Orange Bowl College Football Game in Miami, Fl.
Jan. 1, 1980 – Disneyland Park presented a special 25th Anniversary pre-parade show as part of the 92nd Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. (Taking part in the festivities were the “Firehouse Five Plus Two,” led by Ward Kimball. The group came out of retirement to make one last appearance).
Jan. 1, 1981 - Disney’s animated film “Winnie the Pooh Discovers the Seasons” was released.
Jan. 1, 1983 – The Disney TV cartoon “Walt Disney’s Mickey and Donald” aired.
Jan. 1, 1989 - “Cranium Command” and “The Making of Me” opened in Epcot at WDW.
Jan. 1, 1990- “Hollywood Records,” which holds the Disney label began operations.
Jan. 1, 1990 – Disneyland kicked off its 35th anniversary celebration. On hand for the first time since 1955 were all three of the original hosts of the park’s grand opening live broadcast. Art Linkletter, Bob Cummings, and Ronald Reagan reunite in front of Main Street Station before taking part in a parade.
Jan. 1, 1995 - Symbiosis closed and will be replaced with Circle of Life: An Environmental Fable.
