Day 4
It’s Boma Day Baby!! Yummy!! We had 7:30 ADR’s at Boma’s and showed up a bit early to explore….a bit…Love this resort!! This is so far the highest rated in my kids rating system. Something to do with food and pools. A quick question here—are there rooms in the lodge, that can accommodate 5?
We all loved this buffet. Great “normal” American fare, but lots of fun ethnic dishes to try. And the juice—yummy! This is another favorite. We were done with breakfast and over to Animal Kingdom by about 8:30. It was EMH morning, of course. When I booked the ADR’s I had no idea about EMH, just was told to get reservations here. It ended up working out really well! There’s always a line to get in, or a mass. We arrived after this first wave and before the second wave—the 9:00 entry. I sent DH, DS and DD1 to climb Everest—please get fast passes as well. Anything under a 15 minute wait would work, otherwise return to Dinoland. I know, you think I’m being a bit crazy, but remember, we have never been here before. There is so much to see and do, we have been on most of the mountains already, multiple times, there is still an EMH evening at Animal Kingdom, so if they only get one ride this morning on Everest with the fastpasses—there is still a ton to see! They were able to secure fastpasses as well as a 10 minute wait—so they were off on their first Everest adventure.
Meanwhile, I am wandering to Dinoland. DD2 spots Triceratops Spin and we are excited. Over and over. She loved it. A little scared when it makes a loud noise near the end. We pretended the dinosaurs had gas and that brought more giggles. I loved the line, “if you’d like to ride again, please remain seated.” This would come back to haunt us later. For the last ride, DS and DD1 came flying through the gate and rode in the back seat. DD2 was so pleased. The older two wanted to try Primeval Whirl and a couple games, so DH went on Triceratops with DD2, again. We headed over to Dinosaur. DH, DD1 and DS went in for this one. DD1 was a bit nervous, so they put her in the center. She was bit wide-eyed when she came out, but insisted it would be fun to go with Mom…great..not now, thank goodness, they had a date with some Rapids.
First though, we got distracted in the Dino Dig thing. DS really liked this area. Paleontology is a future possibility. DD1 had fun as well. DD2 not so well. There are fun dino footprints, when stepped on, that result in a nice big roar. She ran for the hills.
We also took a detour in Tough to Be a Bug—again, no wait. I was quite concerned about bringing DD2 into this, but DH wanted to give it a try. We sat all the way over, near the exit doors, in case we needed to do a quick exit. Also, DID NOT put those 3D glasses on her. It worked, she was laughing and having a good time. She didn’t care for the scary guy. A lot of little ones were taken out within the first minutes of putting on those glasses, I think because of the 3D effects. This was a lot of fun!! Older two weren’t too into it, at first because it wasn’t a ride, but made me go again later in the week with them. Onto Kali Rapids.
Put them into their ponchos—just a note, if you’re not going to put up the hood, really why bother?? DD2 and I secured a great place on the bridge to watch them come down and to keep an eye on those monkeys. She loves monkeys! She also found a new love—Mickey Mouse ice cream bars!! I came prepared. Towel bibs—they do not exist in stores. These are not flimsy or fancy. They are usually given to you by someone who sews, someone who has lots of kids or occasionally seen at a craft fair. Think hand towel or kitchen towel with a ribbed turtleneck in it. It covers the childs’ entire seated body. This ice cream bar did not have a chance! I have the best messy faced picture of her with Kali Rapids right behind. Also loved watching them come down the rapids—DH got soaked! No he did not put his hood up.
We went back to Everest so the two older kids could escort me up the mountain. This was the first time actually using fastpasses for me. Not sure I liked the feeling of cutting ahead of people, but thankful I wasn’t waiting in line. Has anyone been in the first car of this ride?? Oh yes, you know it! The kids were laughing so hard when we got in the cars, couldn’t figure out why. You do get the feeling you might be heading off a cliff. Nothing is in front of you, like in Thunder Mountain. This was good scary! Again, eyes closed in the picture—really, I think I blinked. We secured more Fast Passes since the kids thought I needed to keep my eyes open for the whole ride. Next, lunch at Yak and Yeti, and later a Disney Playhouse Dance Party!
