Nov. 15, 1916 – Cartoonist/animator Bill Melendez was born Jose Cuauhtemoc Melendez in Hermosillo, Mexico. Best known for his work on many Peanuts TV specials, he started his career at the Disney Studio in 1937, drawing for “Fantasia,” “Pinocchio,” “Bambi,” and “Dumbo.”
Nov. 15, 1924 – Disney’s Alice Comedy “Alice Hunting in Africa” was released.
Nov. 15, 1925 – Disney’s Alice Comedy “Alice Rattled by Rats” was released.
Nov. 15, 1926 – Disney’s Alice Comedy “Alice Helps the Romance” was released.
Nov. 15, 1929 – Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon “Jungle Rhythm” was released.
Nov. 15, 1929 – Actor Ed Asner, the voice of Carl Fredricksen in the Disney/Pixar animated “Up,” was born in Kansas City, Missouri. His Disney credits include an episode of “Hercules” and the series “Recess.”
Nov. 15, 1932 – The Disney Art Class met for the 1st time with Don Graham of the Chouinard School of Art lecturing at Disney’s old sound studio. In preparation for a feature-length cartoon, Walt Disney has setup this art school to train animators.
Nov. 15, 1934 – Alice Pleasance Liddell, the inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” died.
Nov. 15, 1955 – The Mickey Mouse Club aired the episode “Today is Guest Star Day” on ABC-TV.
Nov. 15, 1964 – The Disney TV show aired “Ben and Me/Peter and the Wolf.”
