Nov. 2, 1790 – James K. Polk, the 11th U.S. President was born in Mecklenburg County, N.C. He could be visited along with all the U.S. Chief Executives at the “Hall of Presidents” attraction in the Magic Kingdom at WDW.
Nov. 2, 1832 – Kepple Disney (Walt’s paternal grandfather) was born to Arundel Elias Disney and Maria Swan in Kansas.
Nov. 2, 1865 – Warren G. Harding, the 29th U.S. President was born in Ohio. He could be visited along with all the U.S. Chief Executives at the “Hall of Presidents” attraction in the Magic Kingdom at WDW.
Nov. 2, 1889 – European publisher (of the monthly magazine “Topolino”) and Disney Legend Arnoldo Mondador was born in the village of Poggio Rusco, Italy.
Nov. 2, 1903 – A production of Shakespeare’s “Midsummer Nights Dream” opened the New Amsterdam Theater in N.Y.C. (During the Depression years, the New Amsterdam would be converted to a movie house, New York state would later purchase the theater in 1992 and subsequently resell it to the Walt Disney Co. for $29 million.)
Nov. 2, 1924 – Bard’s Hollywood Theater previewed the Alice Comedy film “Alice the Piper.”
Nov. 2, 1940 – Disney’s Goofy cartoon “Goofy’s Glider” was released. Goofy had a hard time getting his homemade glider airborne!
Nov. 2, 1946 – Disney’s film “Song of the South” was released.
Nov. 2, 1951 – Disney’s Donald Duck short “Out of Scale” was released.
Nov. 2, 1954 – Look magazine gave readers “Your First View of Disneyland.” The article reported that “bulldozers are piling up miniature mountains for a new product of Walt Disney fertile imagination, a fabulous playground called Disneyland.”
