Oct. 7, 1905 – Andy Devine, the voice of Friar Tuck in Disney’s 1973 release “Robin Hood,” was born in Flagstaff, Az.
Oct. 7, 1918 – Norman “Stormy” Palmer, one of Walt Disney Studios most celebrated film editors, and best known for his contributions to Disney nature and animal films like “Grand Canyon,” and “Water Birds,” was born in Santa Ana, Ca.
Oct. 7, 1955 – The Mickey Mouse Club aired “Today is Talent Round-Up Day” on ABC-TV.
Oct. 7, 1962 –The NBC-TV series Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color aired part-2 of Escapade in Florence.”
Oct. 7, 1967 – Singer/songwriter and actress Toni Braxton, who has appeared in the Disney Broadway shows “Beauty and the Beast” (as Belle) in 1998 and “Aida” (as Aida) in 2003, was born in Severn, Maryland. Her role in “Beauty and the Beast” marked the first (and only) time an African American has played the leading role of Belle on Broadway.
Oct. 7, 1969 – The Disney TV show aired “Inky, the Crow.”
Oct. 7, 1971 – The Disney animated and live-action feature film “Bedknobs and Broomsticks” premiered in London, England. (U.S. release was Dec. 13, 1971)
Oct. 7, 1973 – Disney aired Part 1 of the television show “Mustang!” directed by Roy E. Disney. (Part-2 aired Oct. 21, 1973)
Oct. 7, 1981 – The Disney film “The Watcher in the Woods” was released.
Oct. 7, 1983 – “Never Cry Wolf,” a drama film of the Farley Mowat autobiographical book of the same name, was released by Walt Disney Pictures.
