:mickey: Hey all. Just wondering if they might or if they have ever cancelled MNSSHP due to rain. Getting a little damp doesn't bother me. Just hate to have it cancelled if it rains. The only tropical rain shower I want on the night of Oct 17 (MNSSHP) is if someone is dressed up as a thunder cloud walking down main street!:D Can't wait to arrive! leaving in 14 days. Wife is going as old timey criminal dressed in black and white stripe convict attire, (She's never been arrested before) and I will be the Keystone Cop with the real Handle bar mustache (Mostly real) guarding her and escorting her thru the MK. Don't worry about her stealing Candy, as I'll cuff her if need be.:D LOL Hope to see others from here there. :mickey:

We were there a couple years ago for the party and it rained hard the whole night. As people left, they were giving everyone a free one day park ticket. Three cheers for WDW! :mickey:

We were at a Pirate and Princess Party in heavy rains. They didn't cancel. They did offer us a one day admission pass to make up for the rain at the end of the evening, which was very cool. We had a great night because crowds were very low and we actually really enjoyed the park and got a lot done.

Same thing happened to me at MNSSHP a few years ago. It rained and the 1st parade was canceled but after a little while everything was back up and running. We had a great time! So I was pleasantly surprised when we left and cast members were giving out cards that apologized for the rain ruining our evening and to save our MNSSHP tickets for a free day at the park. It expired one year from that date. This is another reason why I love Disney!!!!!

We had quite a bit of rain one time (very heavy for more than an hour, first parade cancelled, fireworks in doubt, characters not out, etc.) and were not offered a free ticket. It was still fun, but not nearly as fun as other parties.

I've been to a couple of parties in the pouring rain. Raining too hard for the first parade, fireworks cancelled and it was too wet for the second parade. Stage shows cancelled. I wasn't offered a free ticket either for any of the rainy parties. Oh well, lines were short though since a lot of people left!

1) They do not cancel for rain.
2) However, don't look for parades, fireworks, outdoor shows, etc.
3) Sometimes they do compensate with a free PARK ticket.
4) Not another PARTY ticket.

NOTE: PARK tickets as compensation is good for WDW because there is no cost. They do not have to worry about overcrowding a PARTY on another day. But, a free ticekt is given out sparingly. You ticket says no refund for weather problems.

We had the same, they cancelled the parade but went ahead with the fireworks

:mickey:I am not certain what year it was but it was about 12 yrs. (could have been longer) ago and we had tickets for MNSSHP and it poured all day with tornado warnings on and off the entire day. The party was cancelled and we got our money back. The CM said it was a first but there was no way that a party could be held. We were staying in a Treehouse Villa and the trees were swaying to and fro. It was scary. It actually was halloween night (if I can remember correctly) and extended family was staying elsewhere on property at one of the Value resorts and we invited them over, had pizza, and had our own Halloween party. The kids (now in their early twenties) still talk about it.

We had prepurchased tickets for the MNSSHP on Tuesday 28 Sept this year.

Severe weather had been forecast for the Orlando area for that evening and there had been t-storms during the afternoon. It was pouring down between 4 and 7pm. We were told that the party would only be cancelled and the park closed if lightning was in the vicinity.

The 1st stage show was cancelled, the headless horseman didn't ride by for the 1st parade, (although it wasn't raining at this point, there was still some standing water and cast members were busy sweeping it away)
and some of the trick or treat locations had been moved undercover. Due to the inclement weather some people had to cover up their costumes with ponchos, yet others braved the elements to show their costumes off.

I do believe the bad weather deterred day of party ticket purchases, so the party was perhaps a little quieter than it could have been.

We enjoyed ourselves despite the weather.

I'm sure cancellations are few & far between, but I've been to parties that were canceled. This was years ago. The first was MNSSHP. It wasn't long after the party started that the sky opened up & it pretty much became a monsoon. Guests flocked to the stores to get out of the rain. At first a show was canceled. Then it was the 1st parade that was canceled. Finally it was announced that the party itself was canceled (this rain just wasn't letting up--Main St. was a mess & my sneakers were soaked because I couldn't avoid the puddles). No refund was offered (I believe this is stated on the tix), no free one-day pass. We were staying at The Poly at the time; the next morning we ordered room service for breakfast. The CM that brought our breakfast asked how we were enjoying our stay, when my mom told him about the party being canceled the night before. He told us to go to Guest Services & they would give us new tix as it wasn't our fault it rained badly enough to warrant a cancellation. I had no intention of trying that--seriously, I did not think WDW would buy into that--but my mom said it couldn't hurt to try. Sure enough: the CM at the window said she couldn't understand why the Poly CM would tell her to do that, BUT she did give us passes for that night's party. She asked for our party passes & loaded the new party date on them.

The second was MVMCP, a few years later. Again, the party had just started when the rain decided to show up. The cancellation announcement came through the park that the party was canceled due to the weather, but this time party guests were given free one-day passes as they left the park (which doesn't really help us since we get park hoppers for every trip).

Last year we had tickets for the Christmas Party and of course that day it was pouring at night, it was so bad that the parades and shows where cancelled. When we were leaving the park, there was a line a mile long of people waiting to talk to guest relations. We talked to one of the managers and they told us that Disney usually doesn't refund the money, but we were able to get tickets for another night.

Went to the MNSSHP in 2004 and it didn't rain. Went to MVMCP in 2007 and all it did was snow. I found that odd... lol

We were there in 2007 and there was really bad rain. We were refunded our tickets because they had to cancel the parade and fireworks and there were NO characters out.

Did you go to City Hall and ask? Just curious. I was there in 2007 with the same type of rain-out and wasn't offered a refund or return tickets.
