It's been a while since we've gone to WDW and not gotten the park hopper. But this time taking 3 dd for the first time we thought it would be difficult to make use of the hopper and the $300 extra it would cost. But we are thinking of going back to the resort for a swim/rest/naps then mabye back to the parks.

So do they allow same day readmittance into the parks? Do they still do handstamps, or with the cards and biometrics do they just know that you are coming in again?

You can re-enter the same park as long as it is not at capacity (which normally only occurs during a holiday period). They keep track of it on your KTTW card and no longer require a hand stamp.

They scan your finger too

Does the finger scanning actually work now? back in 06 we would exchange our passes with our group of 6 just to see if they scanner worked... nothing happened at all to flag that the finger didn't match the passholder that originally scanned their finger.

Not sure! We've never had to switch tickets up

Tickets that are purchased together also have their biometrics linked. This prevents the problem of Mom holding all the tickets, Mom accidentally handing the wrong tickets to the wrong kids, and Mom causing a huge delay at the entrance turnstile.

Actually not the case. When you go through the turnstiles there are several different "levels of scanning" that may allow people through without a biometric match or a level that makes everyone have a match. Biometric levels change randomly throughout the day and can go back an forth many times and for different durations depending on what sequence they decide for that period. Turnstile CM's that have been there a while can sense when the level changes occur but they are not informed as to specifically when or how long they will be at a certain level.

I can tell you for a fact that many times when we have a family come through that did not put their names on their tickets or do not have them sorted out, we spend time switching them out between people to get the matches correct.

The ticketing sales CM's have no way of "linking biometrics". Biometrics only happen at the turnstiles on first use (depending on what level we are on).

According to my CM source, a CM who's been working at a ticket window for a few years ... "If MYW tickets were purchased at WDW directly from ATS in one transaction they may be linked together, in which case the people can switch the tickets, but don’t count on this working."

My source, myself. I work turnstiles at the MK and see this all of the time.

Tickets are only "linked" (whatever that is supposed to mean) for the purchase and that really means nothing except on the receipt in case someone loses one. Resort hard cards are linked to the room # and the resort name but only for replacement and EMH purposes.

We always get a chuckle out of the family that comes in with no idea of who belongs to which ticket and then try to tell us it doesn't matter. Sorry but unless everyone is under about 7 years old or so, it does matter unless we are on a particular "ticket security level" that does not require biometric scanning.

Ticketing and Guest Relations do not have biometric capabilities, only turnstiles. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries to get someones biometric to register on their ticket when they use it for the first time.

Sometimes it takes multiple tries to get someones biometric scan to "approve" with a previously used ticket. Usually they either don't push the finger all of the way up to the metal or they roll the finger on the side slightly and it doesn't register correctly. Sometimes it is just a bad magnetic strip and sometimes, it is a 192 or IDrive ticket that they have purchased off property.

The only tickets that are somewhat of an exception to the above are the military special tickets, but they still require individual biometrics and will will show access denied if they do not match with the correct biometrics.

you bet you can. We often go back for a swim early afternoon and return later.
