I posed this on the planning board but I'm hoping you FOODIES can help me here!!

Hi All,

Spending a long weekend down in Disney Nov. 11-15. We're (my BF and I, both 29) staying at The Swan. We did a similar quick trip last fall. We are major foodies and I need help deciding where to dine. Last year we ate at Il Mulino at The Swan, Bistro de Paris (upstairs) and Narcoosee's. I also would appreciate any comments on the itinerary in General. We are not renting a car.

We arrive at 11:30 am on Thursday, so we'll have most of the day free to explore, walk around the Boardwalk/Beach Club area (maybe get a burger at Beaches and Cream), head to Downtown Disney. Any suggestions for dinner in the area? Since we are not bound to a park, we can go anywhere. I was thinking about doing a late dinner at Il Mulino (it was one of the best meals of our lives) and then hanging out on the Boardwalk afterwards. I have also heard great things about Portabellos, and I remember Fouton's Crab House from my youth. Any thoughts?

Here was my idea for the remainder of the trip:

Day 2 - Friday
EARLY -Take cab (?) to Universal. Do Universal and Harry Potter. Can we do all of this in one day? Thinking it is slow season so we should be able to.
Where to eat dinner? Stay at Universal and do City Walk? Head back to resort and do Il Mulino this night instead? Maybe the Yachtsmen Steak House? Never been.

Day 3 - Saturday
MK. Extra Magic Hour keeps the park open until 1 am. So we could go, leave and then come back. So looking for something close by Narcoosee's was just OK so we wouldn't want to repeat that. BF has been to California Grill and when I mentioned going there he just said, "eh."

Day 4- Sunday
Epcot all day. The idea is to book at late reservation, around 9, to mazximize our time in the park. We did this last year at the Bistro and watched the fireworks out the window. Amazing. This is also our last night. I'd like to go somewhere new perhaps. I've never done Canada. China a long time ago, would try the new Italy but I've got a lot of other Italian options on this trip. Germany sounds good but it's not really "romantic." I guess it doesn't have to be.... what about the Coral Reef? Any other ideas would be great.

I know we are cutting MGM (or the studios as it's now called, sorry it will always be MGM to me!) but I REALLY wanted to go to Harry Potter, and I have not been to Universal in YEARS.

So what do you all think? Am I nuts?

I jump at any opportunity to go to Disney so to me you sound "normal"! I think you have a great trip planned out. For your first day I have heard good things about Fultons but have never been there and the Yachtsman Steakhouse also came to mind since you mentioned that area. For the second day I would probably do Il Mulino since you enjoyed it so much. I have never been to Universal so don't know about the options there. On the third day Artist Pointe or Citricos might be options. They are both in the area. Epcot has so many to choose from that it would be a hard decision. We love San Angel Inn and it is romantic but Coral Reef looks romantic too. We enjoy Teppan Edo but its probably not what you are looking for. Canada gets great reviews but I've never been there. Have fun on your trip!

If you're going to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you'll probably want to eat at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade.

Ohanas at the Polynesian is a good choice or you might try the Wave at the Contemporary (we were going to try the Wave on our upcoming trip but with our picky kids it got axed from the schedule.)

You might consider eating at the San Angel Inn in the Mexico pavilion at Epcot. It sits along the "river" for the Gran Fiesta Tour and it's always night.

By the sound of your post it seems you enjoy some of the more upscale restaurants Disney has to offer.
As far as Epcot, I would suggest Coral Reef. It has a nice romantic atmosphere & the food seems right up your alley. I know I enjoyed it a lot. As for San Angel Inn. I haven't eaten there but people I've spoken to say it's romantic but the food is average at best.
Wolfgang Puck's is one of my personal faves so you may want to give that some thought. The Pumpkin Ravioli is delicious.
Have you looked into some of the restaurants at the Dolphin? There's some places there that may interest you as well.

In downtown Disney our favorite place is fultons crab house. Pricey but worth every penny to us. On the boardwalk flying fish is our favorite. You do know that youre there for the closing of the food & wine fest? Sunday in epcot is the last day.

For all of the suggestions.

I was aware that it was the last day of the Food and Wine Festival. We were there for it last year. It made things crowded but it was definitely fun. That will be our lunch for sure.

We really like Jiko & Artist Point. You might want to check those out:number1:

Consider Wolfgang Puck's ( there's two at DTD, not the express one - although that's great too). We have eaten there several times and had fantastic food. We are trying Todd English's Blue Zoo at the Dolphin this time, have heard/read great reviews.

Blue Zoo is fantastic...I'd say it is the "sexiest" restaurant on property! We try to never miss it...and although pricey at times, you can easily make a romantic meal from the raw bar and appetizer selection!

Fulton's is also great...we usually do it for lunch, as it's a little less expensive than dinner!

Have fun! I go in 3 weeks!:mickey:

We went to Boardwalk this past summer and if you were looking foe a good place to eat I'd go to Big River Grille & Brewing Works. It didn't need reservations and I had the meatloaf and my daughter had the chicken and both were great.

I'm a big fan of the California Grill the the CR. Greal sushi rolls and entrees. Pricey but good! Hard to beat the view, too.

Not sure about the release date of the next Harry Potter Movie but, if you are there when it's out or the weekend of the release, you may be in for a crowded visit to Potterland.

DH and I have always wanted to try Bluezoo

Our fave in Downtown Disney is Wolfagng Puck Cafe. They have an amazing macadamia crusted chicken and pumpkon ravioli. Epcot has a TON of amazing options! My personal faves are Chefs de France, Nine Dragons, and Tutto Italia. I haven't had any amazing food at MK- we usually do Tony's for the tirimisu. The Kona Cafe, at the Poly, has an amazing coconut almond chicken on the dinner menu, and the coconut kiki tart is excellent as well. No matter where you decide to eat, I'm sure you'll have very tasty meals!!
