Aug. 11, 1925 – Singer-TV host Mike Douglas, who was the singing voice of Prince Charming in Disney’s 1950 classic “Cinderella,” was born in Chicago, Il.
Aug. 11, 1934 – Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon “Orphan’s Benefit” was released.
Aug. 11, 1939 – Disney’s Donald Duck cartoon “Donald’s Penquin” was released.
Aug. 11, 1943 – Disney’s Educational film “Defense Against Invasion” was delivered to the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs.
Aug. 11, 1950 – Disney’s Pluto cartoon “Food for Feudin” was released.
Aug. 11, 1955 – The “Casa de Fritos” Restaurant opened in Frontierland at Disneyland. (Closed Nov. 28, 1999)
Aug. 11, 1955 – Vice President Richard Nixon and his family visited Disneyland for the very first time.
Aug. 11, 1960 – Actor Gerard J. Reyes was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He played the role of Tearlach, one of Jack’s crew, in both features “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.”
Aug. 11, 1991 – Disney’s syndicated TV special “Queen: The Days of Our Lives” aired.
Aug. 11, 1993 – Actress & dancer Alyson Stoner was born in Toledo, Oh. Best known to movie fans for her role in “Cheaper by the Dozen,” and “Cheaper by the Dozen 2,” Stoner is the voice of Isabella on the Disney Channel original series “Phineas and Ferb.” Her Disney credits also include “Mike’s Super Short Show,” “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody,” “That’s So Raven,” and the Disney Channel Original Movie “Camp Rock,” as Caitlyn.
