I did the same thing for our trip. I moved it up one day and got the free dining for our December 2nd-8th trip.

Does anyone know when you go to make reservations and wanted the deluxe dining plan, what would disney do. Will they use the cost of the standard dining plan and subtract it from the deluxe? Or not at all? Totally willing to the pay the difference not trying to cheat anything my family we want to the deluxe dining plan and getting 30% off a moderate hotel is no where near the savings compared to free standard dining.

My understanding is you can upgrade to the deluxe plan and pay the difference.
