renting points/insurance

I have wanted to try renting points, but wonder what would happen if an emergency prevented us from going on vacation. Is there any travel insurance that can be bought?

Not sure for renting points. DVC offer one to members to cover points usage but I don't think that can be used by renters. You might try a google search (or similar) on the topic as this board does not do rental points and we do not therefore have experts on the issues involved.
