I know this was practice at the Magic Kingdom and DIsneyland in the past, but is it still being done? With post 9/11 security and that I wanted to ask.

For those of you who are not familiar, one was able to knock on the captains door, and visit the wheelhouse of the boat. You would be able to ring the bell, blow the whistle, turn the ships wheel and pilot the boat (but because its on a track you weren't really piloting anything) Then you got a pilots card similar to the one on the monorail.

We were able to do this in December of 2008, we just asked one of the CMs on board. DS was 5 and absolutely loved piloting the ship and blowing the whistle.

How many did they let in the wheelhouse?

I have never heard about piloting the river boat, but my niece did pilot a boat in the Jungle Cruise.
Back in the mid 80s, DW and I did ride upfront of the monorail.

Both the monorail and the boat sound likes a lot of fun for kids to do, any other tips for parents to have the kids do?
