We rode Kilimanjaro Safaris on June 9th and 11th, and neither time did we do the old rickety bridge where you thought the bridge might collapse from under you.

Has that been permanently removed, or was it just in B-mode for repairs during our stay??

It hasnt the past couple of times we've been on it either, and when i say past couple of times, i believe that stretches back to September at least.

Rode safari twice during the first week of May. 1 time we got the shaking, the other time we didn't.

I think I remember it working 1 out of 2 times for me too. I wonder if it needs some time to "reset" and therefore only 1 out of every 2 or 3 trucks get it?

We were on the ride about 4 times last week and it didn't shake once. The driver made a big deal about a rickety bridge, but it never shook.

No authority here, but I have heard it speculated elsewhere that this effect is random.

Up through December of 2009 (since the park opened in 1998), the bridge shook every time we went over it.

First week of May 2010, no shaking. That was a first for us.

The first time I rode it this last January, it was working. But on the second trip later that day, we got to the bridge, stopped, it got real quiet, and the bus driver YELLED! Several people jumped. He then said, "What? Did you think the bridge was going to collapse or something?" We all laughed.

There must be some way the drivers know that it's not going to shake.

....it didn't shake for us last week, rode it several times.....I'll bet the busier the park is the fewer times they have it work....my thinking is, when we've been on it shaking, the driver was going REAL slow....last week was rather busy and the driver sped across it .... just thinking !!!

There's a light on the bridge that indicates if it's going to go or not. I forget if blinking means it will or not, but that's what it's there for.

I am pretty sure its a random effect and really I think it depends on how many trucks they have running. If its a slower day, the bridge effect will occur more often
