We are just trying to get all the facts...we are thinking of doing the DVC. Can you buy the dining plan? If so, how? Through disney reservations or through the vacation club? thanks

You can. You simply book it through member services and pay for it upon arrival (you may now be able to pay for it in advance; I seem to recall that change).

I think now you are going to have to pay in advance if I remember the change. I also note that the price shows $46 for summer rates for the general public, but we were only charged $41 as DVC members. Don't know if that was an error or we get a discount off the summer rates. I think the non-peak rate is $41 for everyone.

I just called last month and ordered the dining plan.

Its on our reservation, but they told me I won't be officially charged until the day we check in.

Also note that a dining plan purchased for a DVC stay requires that all guests on the reservation purchase the plan, just like a CRO booking.

As for the DVC member price, it is locked at the lowest price point of $41.

What about during free dining promotions? Can Members get in on that?

No, that is only for guests paying rack rate (non-discounted) at a resort hotel. We all wish they would do something for us DVC members but haven't so far.
