Anyone been to Atlantic City not to gamble?

Is it worth it to go just for the Boardwalk?

Can you walk on the beach and Boardwalk if you are dropped off at the Trump hotel or do you have to take a taxi?

We can get free transportation to the Trump hotel and I was trying to decide if it was worth it.

I've often gone to Atlantic City to catch a show, have dinner or the like and not gamble a lot, so there are other things other than gambling that you can do.

When you say the Trump Hotel, which one is it? There are three Trump properties in AC, Trump Plaza and Trump Taj Mahal are both on the Boardwalk so it's easy access. Trump Marina is on the other side of town, near the bay area and not really convenient for the Boardwalk.

It is Trump PLaza. We can go for $2 a ticket ( a ninety minute bus ride) from Philly so I thought we would go early (about 9am) and come back to PA around 6 pm. We will have 3 teenagers with us so we aren't going for the gambling - just walking on the beach, shopping and eating somewhere.

It is a special promotion with Mega Bus - anyone heard of them?

The Plaza is right on the boardwalk, it has a rain forest cafe attached to it on the boardwalk side. it is next to the new pier mall. There are also all of the outlets one block over. The Steel Pier is also open for rides but its at the other end of the boardwalk. The beach in that area is not the greatest so I would stick to the shopping, either way you can't beat a $2 ticket

The boardwalk is not that exciting or nice. Having said that in the last 10 years it has really come a long way. Rainforest Cafe is great and if you like shopping the outlets are within walking distance of the boardwalk. There used to be a mall that goes far out into the ocean but that got changed to and upscale shopping center, and when I say upscale I mean it. Rolex, Gucci and all that kind of stuff. The steel pier is nice but not up to the par of the ones down in Ocean City or Wildwood. All of the casinos have opened bars on the beach if your into that, but as far as the beaches go I have never gone swimming or anything in AC. Also most of the stores on the boardwalk are the cheap t-shirt stores, pizza places, or cheap jewelry stores and pawn shops. Most of the casinos have great restaurants and entertainment, plus shopping indside them. Hope this helps.

we weren't too crazy about Ocean City and it doesn't sound any better than that. We aren't going swimming-just wanted to walk and look at the ocean.

Sounds like the girls will like it - shopping....

I do like Rainforest Cafe so that will be fun

thanks for the information

As it was already mentioned, the rear of the Plaza opens up into the boardwalk & the Rain Forest is right next store to the left. The Pier Stores are right across from the Rainforest and they do have expensive stores but also many restaurants. It extends into the ocean and has many huge windows with beach sand & beach chairs so you can sit and look at the ocean. It's cute. The fountains at the end of the pier do a little music & light show. There is also a bulk candy and ice cream shop.

If you walk down further there is a Ripley's & the amusment pier.

There is mini golf on the boardwalk when you exit the Plaza.

If you exit the Plaza and go to the right on the boardwalk you will come to the Tropicana and they have an IMAX.

Not all of the stores in AC are high end. "The Walk" is shopping with name brands but the kind you find in a mall.

If you like shopping, eating and taking in a show or two there is enough to do for a weekend in AC without gambling.
