June 7, 1894 – Alexander Nikolaievich Prokofiev de Seversky, aviation pioneer, inventor, and influential advocate of strategic air power, was born. He would be famous as the author of the influential 1942 book, “Victory Through Air Power,” which Disney would adapt into a motion picture.
June 7, 1940 – Disney’s Donald Duck cartoon “Mr. Duck Steps Out” was released.
June 7, 1946 – Disney’s Pluto cartoon “Squatter’s Rights” was released.
June 7, 1946 – BBC-TV in England returned to the airwaves after a near 7-year absence due to WWII. The first days program included the cartoon “Mickey’s Gala Premiere.”
June 7, 1950 – Walt Disney wrote a letter of agreement between himself and writer Cameron Shipp, who was to write a serialized biography of Disney for the “Saturday Evening Post.” (It would take another 6 years before the series would appear in print.
June 7, 1969 – Actress Kim Rhodes was born in Portland, Or. Fans of “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody” know her as Carey Martin, a headlining singer at the Tipton Hotel as well as the mother of Zack and Cody.
June 7, 1975 – WDW’s “Mission to Mars” opened in Tomorrowland replacing “Flight to the Moon”. (Closed Oct. 4, 1993)
June 7, 1979 – The Disney Featurette “Footloose Fox” was released.
June 7, 1989 – The Disney Channel aired episode 33 of MMC. “Today is Anything Can Happen Day!”
June 7, 1990 – The Disney Channel’s Premiere film “Back Home” aired.
