May 13, 1924 – Director Bernard Mceveety was born in New Rochelle, N.Y. His Disney credits include “Napoleon and Samantha,” “One Little Indian,” and “Donovan’s Kid.”
May 13, 1933 – Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon “The Mail Pilot” was released.
May 13, 1942 – Disney’s animated feature “Pinocchio” was released in Switzerland.
May 13, 1949 – “The Firehouse Five Plus Two” (a Dixieland jazz band made up of Disney Studio employees) began recording their very first album. The session took place at Radio Engineers’ famous Studio B, in Hollywood, Ca. with engineer Lowell Frank at the controls.
May 13, 1955 - The Disney short “Pedro” was released.
May 13, 1971 – Singer-songwriter Elton John visits Disneyland for the 1st time during his 2nd U.S. Tour. He is to perform at the Anaheim Convention Center the following day.
May 13, 1979 – Disney’s 2-hour movie “The Sky Trap” was released.
May 13, 1992 – Frontierland’s Rivers of America blazed with fireworks, lasers, and water mist screens as a shape-shifting Maleficent took over Tom Sawyer Island during Fantasmic’s premiere at Disneyland.
May 13, 1992 – Disneyland’s “Fantasmic!,” a new night-time fireworks and visual hydrotechnic how, was officially dedicated in Frontierland.
May 13, 1993 – Actress Debby Ryan, best known for her role as Bailey Pickett on the Disney Channel Original Series “The Suite Life on Deck,” was born in Huntsville, Alabama.
