May 8, 1884 – Farmer, railroad worker, clerk and 33rd President of the United States, Harry S. Truman was born in Lamar, Missouri. In 1957, he would visit Disneyland and later be immortalized in Disney World’s “Hall of President’s” attraction.
May 8, 1926 – Comedian/actor Don Rickles, the voice of Mr. Potato Head in Disney’s “Toy Story”, and the voice of William in WDW’s Enchanted Tiki Room attraction was born in New York City.
May 8, 1930 – “Frolicking Fish,” a Silly Symphony short directed by Burt Gillett, was released.
May 8, 1960 – Jennifer Miller – Goff, Walt Disney’s granddaughter, was born in Los Angeles County, Ca.
May 8, 1989 – The Disney Channel aired episode 11 of MMC “Today is Music Day!”
May 8, 2000 – Two-thousand young visionaries from around the world met at WDW for the 3-day Millenium Dreamers Celebration.
May 8, 2000 – Disney’s True Life Adventure film “Elephant Journey” aired.
May 8, 2002 – John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band began a 2-day engagement at Epcot’s Flower Power Concert Series at America Garden Theatre.
May 8, 2005 – “Live with Regis and Kelly” taped 2 shows at Disneyland to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the park. The episodes would air on ABC-TV May 9 and 10.
May 8, 2006 – It was reported that Ashley Brown and Gavin Lee would play the roles of Mary Poppins and Bert on Broadway when the hit production of “Mary Poppins” arrived at the New Amsterdam Theatre late this year.
