May 5, 1905 – Floyd Gottfredson, the man who gave Mickey Mouse his comic strip personality, was born in Kaysville, Utah.
May 5, 1915 – Ben Wright, the voice of Grimsby in Disney’s 1989 classic “The Little Mermaid”, and the voice of “Wolf” in Disney’s 1967 film “The Jungle Book”, was born in London, England.
May 5, 1927 – Actress Pat Carroll, the voice of Ursula in Disney’s 1989 classic “The Little Mermaid”, was born in Shreveport, Louisiana.
May 5, 1929 – Singer, voice actress and Disney Legend Ilene Woods was born in New Hampshire. In 1948, as a favor for songwriters friends Mack David and Jerry Livingston, Woods will record “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo,” “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes,” and “So This is Love,” upon hearing Woods, Walt would hire her as the voice of Cinderella.
May 5, 1930 – The 1st Mickey Mouse comic strip drawn and inked by Floyd Gottfredson, was published.
May 5, 1940 – Actor Lance Henrikson, the voice of Kerchak in Disney’s 1999 animated feature “Tarzan”, was born in N.Y.C.
May 5, 1958 – The Globe Theatre (located at 205 West 46th street in Manhattan) re-opened as the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. This Broadway theater would be the home to such future musicals as “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Little Mermaid.”
May 5, 1959 – Actor Gary Dubin, the voice of Toulouse in Disney’s 1970 animated feature “The Aristocats,” was born.
May 5, 1983 - Journey into Imagination Pavilion opened at Epcot along with the ride Journey Into Imagination.
May 5, 1984 – The Disney TV series “DTV” premiered on The Disney Channel.
