Apr. 29, 1949 – Disney’s Pluto cartoon “Pluto’s Sweater” was released.
Apr. 29, 1952 – Actress Nora Dunn, Lily Keeble in the 2001 “Max Keeble’s Big Move,” was born in Chicago, Il. (TV fans would recognize her as a member of Saturday Night Live from 1985-1990.)
Apr. 29, 1957 – At Disneyland, the Sleeping Beauty Castle walk-through attraction opened.
Apr. 29, 1983 – The Disney film “Something Wicked This Way Comes” was released.
Apr. 29, 1989 – At the 61st Academy Awards, Disney’s “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?”, won an Oscar for Film Editing Sound Effects, and Visual Effects.
Apr. 29, 1989 – The Disney Channel Premiere film “Danny the Champion of the World” aired.
Apr. 29, 1989 – Disney-MGM Studios held a sneak preview with such celebrities as Bette Midler, Betty White, George Burns, and The Pointer Sisters. ((The theme park would officially open on Monday, May 1, 1989.)
Apr. 29, 1990 – Disneyland’s “Pendleton Woolen Mills Dry Goods Store” closed in Frontierland. (It would be replaced by “Bonanza Outfitters” shop in June.)
Apr. 29, 1994 – The Disney film “When a Man Loves a Women” was released in New York and Los Angeles. (General release was on May 13, 1994)
Apr. 29, 1994 - Disney’s All-Star Sports, (the 1st phase) , Surfs Up, opened to guests at WDW.
