Toy Story Mania will change in May

In May, a new game with new faces is being added to Toy Story Mania! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as part of the celebration of the soon-to-be-released Disney*Pixar film, “Toy Story 3.”

The new Toy Story Mania! game, called “Rex and Trixie’s Dino Darts,” will involve shooting virtual darts at all new balloon targets in a primeval world filled with volcanoes and lava balloons. You’ll be cheered on by Rex (the nervous Tyrannosaurus rex) and his new friend Trixie (a blue Triceratops, one of the toy characters from the new film) beginning in late May. Walt Disney Imagineering has also added some hidden surprises to the game that will be replacing “Bo Peep’s Baaa-loon Pop.”

I'm also hoping this doesn't cause a temporary closure - is this something they can just reprogram overnight? Also, does anyone know a firm date? The info on Disney just said late May.

I have heard that the ride at both parks has been opening late the past few days or so, maybe they are installing and testing at night so that there will be no real refurb down time... let's hope so as I am going to be there May 15th to the 20th and love this ride...

Does this mean that its going down for a refurb? There are currently no expectations of a related closure. The transition and testing is currently expected to be conducted during third shift.

Yes. The "Bo Peep Baaaa-loon Pop" game is being replaced.

this is wowing me even more now! if they can periodically change the ride's games it would be a random new experience everytime riden! that would be fantastical!:D

I like the fact the the attraction can be occasionally changed, it's pretty exciting.
