Has anyone ever stayed in a preferred room without requesting(and paying) for one?

I am sure that happens. However, we pay for our preferred room when we need to request one because of a medical need in our party if this person decides to go. The preferred room is only guaranteed when you book the preferred room. Otherwise, the other choice is a standard room.

Yes! Our first trip in August 2004 we had paid for regular rooms but they were not that busy and put us in a room right by the pool. Spoiled us bad :) We did not pay any additional fee :thumbsup:

We did get one at Movies once, but doubt we could be that lucky again.

For our last trip in September 2008 we requested a regular mansion room at Port Orleans Riverside. What we ended up with was a 2nd floor room located right at the top of the stairs and facing the river!

Extremely nice surprise and the view was terrific.
