Apr. 23, 1791 – James Buchanan, the 15th U.S. President, was born in a log cabin at Cove Gap near Mercersburg, Franklin County, Pa. He could be visited along with all the U.S. Chief Executives at the “Hall of Presidents” attraction in the Magic Kingdom at WDW.
Apr. 23, 1886 – Actress Belle Montrose was born in Illinois. Her Disney credits include “The Absent Minded Professor” and “Son of Flubber.”
Apr. 23, 1923 – The parents of child actress Virginia Davis signed a contract with Disney’s Laugh-O-Gram Films, giving her 5% of receipts from showing the film “Alice’s Wonderland” (for which she stars in).
Apr. 23, 1928 – Child star Shirley Temple, who presented Walt Disney with special Oscars for “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” was born in Santa Monica, Ca.
Apr. 23, 1931 – The crime drama film “The Public Enemy,” starring James Cagney and Jean Harlow, was released. (A scene from this film is featured in the Disney-MGM attraction “The Great Movie Ride” at WDW.)
Apr. 23, 1943 – Disney’s Donald Duck cartoon “Fall Out-Fall In” was released.
Apr. 23, 1954 – Disney’s special cartoon “Two for the Record” was released.
Apr. 23, 1957 – The “Midget Autopia” attraction opened in Disneyland’s Fantasyland. (Closed Apr. 3, 1957)
Apr. 23, 1960 – Actress Valerie Bertinelli, the voice of Princess Sabrina in Disney’s 1984 TV movie, “Aladdin and His Wonderful Lamp,” was born in Wilmington, De.
Apr. 23, 1961 – The Disney TV show aired episode 16 of “Texas John Slaughter: Frank Ciell’s.”
