Hi all,

I've had Taylor Swift's "Love Story" stuck in my head all weekend and it got me thinking. It put me in such a good mood and I would love to put together a mix CD/MP3 list with songs that put you in a good mood (and most likely would put anyone in a good mood).

So here it is Intercotee's: Tell me the song that puts you in a good mood. Pretty much any genre would be great, although for Country I prefer mostly songs that "crossover" much like "Love Story". Regardless, these are the songs that make YOU happy...

:)

I have two songs on my iPod right now that always put an extra skip in my step--Swing Out Sisters "Breakout" and Paolo Nutini's "New Shoes".

"Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina & the Waves has been my "feel good" song since I was in high school - and it continues to put a smile on my face whenever I hear it to this day. Of course, DH cannot stand it! :D Another few are "I'm Still Here" and "Always Know Where You Are" from the Treasure Planet soundtrack. Reminds me of DS when he was a little guy - good memories! :mickey:

Mine are "Unwritten" by Meredith Bainbridge (is that spelled right?), "I'm Alive" by Kenny Chesney and Dave Matthews, and "One Particular Harbor" by Jimmy Buffet.

And after my last Disney trip, I have to add Corbin Bleu's "Celebrate You" to the list.

I have so many it would be impossible to list them all.

If I had to pick just one, I'd probably go with the 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy) by Simon and Garfunkel. The very first time I heard that song I was probably 6 or 7 years old and the way it made me feel was one of the first times I really recognized the power that music could have over me.

If I want a feel-good song while I'm driving, though, I put on L.A. Woman by The Doors. There's no better song to listen to when you're in the mood to press a bit more firmly on the gas pedal.

Mammabruski - You are going to get A LOT of songs from the seventies, because there are a whole bunch of us on Intercot who just turned 40 in the past year.:old:

So here is my (incomplete) list, with my thoughts (uninvited, of course) behind them -
“If You Really Love Me” by Stevie Wonder - you can pretty much throw almost any Stevie Wonder song on a 'feel good' list, so I limited myself to just one. It could have easily been "As" or "Isn't She Lovely".
“Ventura Highway” by America - can double as a 'driving in the car' song
“Let Your Love Flow” by the Bellamy Brothers - Prius commercial or not
"Jive Talkin" by the Bee Gees
“Off the Wall” by Michael Jackson - the titular album changed the path of popular music
"Breakout” by Swing Out Sister - reminds me of my college days
“Kodachrome” by Simon and Garfunkel
“Escape (The Pina Colada Song)” by Rupert Holmes
“Lessons In Love” by Level 42 - it reminds me of how much I loved the 80's
“Until You Come Back to Me (That’s What I’m Gonna Do)” by Basia or (more obviously) Aretha Franklin
“I Love you More Today Than Yesterday” by Spiral Staircase - even though I can't stand the sing-along that it has become, like "Sweet Caroline"
"Dock of the Bay" by Otis Redding - not exactly a happy song, but it transplants most people to a happy place

Ditto to -
“59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)” by Simon and Garfunkel
“September" by Earth, Wind and Fire
“Saturday in the Park" by Chicago
"Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is" by Chicago
These songs remind me of summers in Philadelphia (Fairmount Park, Boathouse Row, Art Museum, etc.) during my childhood.

I'm the same way, but my top 'feel good' song would have to be "It's Not Unusual" by Tom Jones.

Corny, I know, but there's a whole long story behind it.

I have too many to name, but my absolute favorite feel good song is "Sugar, Sugar" by The Archies. There is just something about that song that always makes me smile. It came out many years before I was born, but I have always loved music from that era.

Wow! Some great suggestions. Just thinking about some of these songs put a smile on my face. A few more of the songs I love and make me happy are:

"The Perfect Time of Day" by Howie Day
"Hands Down" by Dashboard Confessional
"Open Road Song" by Eve 6
"Ruby Tuesday" by the Stones

I think someone already mentioned this song, but it is really special to me as it was playing when my youngest daughter was born:
"Good-Day Sunshine" by the Beatles

I know most of the songs, but the ones I don't, I haven't had a chance to check out. Hopefully when school lets out for the summer, I'll have time! Only 10 more days (hey, even teachers get anxious for summer)! :mickey:
