Mar. 30, 1822 – The unified government of Florida was established with William P. Duval from Kentucky becoming the first Territorial Governor. (Florida had become a U.S. territory in 1821 after the U.S. acquired it from Spain as part of a deal to cancel $5 million in debts owed by the Spanish.)
Mar. 30, 1838 – Mary Richardson (Walt Disney’s paternal grandmother) was born in Ireland.
Mar. 30, 1889 –Character actor Herman Bing (the voice of the Ringmaster in Disney’s 1941 “Dumbo”) was born in Germany.
Mar. 30, 1913 – Disney animator Marc Davis, one of Walt’s “Nine Old Men” and who created the Disney characters, Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Tinker Bell, and Cruella de Vil was born in Bakersfield, Ca.
Mar. 30, 1930 – Actor John Astin, Bill Andrews in Disney’s 1976 film “Freaky Friday”, was born in Baltimore, Md.
Mar. 30, 1945 – The Donald Duck cartoon “The Eyes Have It” was released.
May 30, 1953 – Disney’s Donald Duck cartoon “Don’s Fountain of Youth” was released.
Mar. 30, 1955 – At the RKO Pantages Theater in Los Angeles, Ca., Disney won 2 Oscars at the 27th Academy Awards for “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”.
Mar. 30, 1968 – Bobby Driscol, the voice of Peter Pan, was found dead by 2 children from an apparent drug overdose in New York City.
Mar. 30, 1968 – Singer Celine Dion, whose Duet “Beauty and the Beast” with Peabo Bryon which was released in 1992, was born in Quebec, Canada.
