Mar. 24, 1901 – Disney animator Ub Iwerks was born in Kansas City, Missouri.
Mar. 24, 1905 – Novelist Jules Verne, author of “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”, died in France at the age of 77.
Mar. 24, 1922 – Classically trained ballerina-turned-choreographer Onna White was born in Inverness, Nova Scotia, Canada. Her Disney credits include the 1977 “Pete’s Dragon.”
Mar. 24, 1925 – Disney’s Alice Comedy film “Alice Solves the Puzzle” premiered at the Rivoli Theater in New York City.
Mar. 24, 1934 – Disney’s Silly Symphony Easter themed cartoon, “Funny Little Bunnies”, was released.
Mar. 24, 1949 – At the 21st Annual Academy Awards, Disney won an award for the film “Seal Island”.
Mar. 24, 1950 – Disney’s Donald Duck cartoon “Crazy over Daisy” was released.
Mar. 24, 1954 – Actor Robert Carradine, Sam McGuire on Disney’s “Lizzie McGuire”, was born in San Mateo, Ca. He also played Maxwell Dwebb in Disney’s 1988 TV show “Totally Minnie” and was the voice of Aladdin in Disney’s 1984 “Aladdin and His Wonderful Lamp”.
Mar. 24, 1954 – Actress Donna Pescow, the mother on Disney Channel’s “Even Stevens,” was born in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Mar. 24, 1956 – The “Astro-Jets” attraction opened in Tomorrowland at Disneyland. (Closed Sept. 5, 1966)
