This year will be my families 5th trip to WDW in 6 years. We have DKs that are 7,6,2. We have eatin at all just about all of the Character Dining options, but have only eatin at the resorts we've stayed in recently (WL and CS). We are staying at the PORS this year. Which resort would you recommend for a table service meal and why? We want to try other resturants outside of the parts! :mickey:

Boatwrights at POR is really good! I also enjoy Ohana at Poly, Narcoosees at the GF, Cape May at the BC, Big River Grill and Brewery at the BW and Blue Zoo at the Swan.

Our two favorites, both for breakfast are Boma at AKL and Kona Cafe at Poly in that order. I love Boma because they have a good mix of traditional breakfast food and African inspired foods. As for Kona two items stand out; Tonga Toast and Pineapple Macadamia Nut Pancakes.

Sanaa at Kidani Village (AKL). Excellent food and a great view!

AKL, with great choices (Boma, Sanaa, or Jiko) and the ability to look around and explore a great resort and see the animals. Downside, it is a bit out of the way. Grand Floridian would be my next choice- close to the MK and great dining, Grand Floridian Cafe and Narcoossee's are two personal favorites.

Kona Cafe in the Poly wins hands-down for me and my family. It has wonderful service, great location, and the food is delicious.

We always plan a meal there to wind down and relax after a heavy day at Magic Kingdom.

Wish I could afford to stay at the Poly, but I can't have it all :D

Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge! Its like another park in itself. It is absolutely stunning, the grandeur and architecture really makes you feel like you're far from central florida. you can take your kids out to the back to look at all the animals and there are native Africans there to talk about what animals you see and where they are from. And then the food! Boma is my favorite meal in Disney. I think its perfect for adults and kids. Adults get to indulge in delicious flavors from Africa while kids get to say they've tasted some fun food but get to enjoy a kids buffet too. I think if you make the trip to AKL, you'll really be happy with what you see and eat!

I agree with many other posters...

Ohana's, Boma's, 1900 Park Fare (although you said you've done character meals, this one is worth it!)...

We are hoping to try Sanaa, Kouzzina and Grand Floridian Cafe on our next trip.

Your kids are prime age for Whispering Canyon at WL.

My kids 7,5,1 pick Ohana's as their favorite.

Great suggestion. The only character meal we have not had was at 1900 at the GF. We wanted something different but something the kids would enjoy as well.

O'hanas is a family favorite. I love their potatoes. Also, don't forget Downtown Disney. Raglan Road is my absolute favorite restaurant. Their rib appetizer is great and their Shepard's Pie and Pie in the sky are amazing. Their bread pudding dessert is delicious. We also enjoy Portobello Yacht Club.

I'll add myself to the long list of Ohana's fans, we go there everytime we go to Disney. Also the Whispering Canyon Cafe, has a fun atmosphere and good food, plus the WL is a neat resort to explore

Our family has done 1900 Park Fair for dinner 2x. It's ok, if you try it once but I wouldn't do it again. the food had gone down hill. However, I do recommend Cape May as well..but for breakfast..If you are looking for a quiet breakfast, this is the place. it's a character breakfast and it doens't get overly crowded.

We are more the resort eating family than inside the parks....we love Olivia's (OKW), Cape May (B&Y), Flying Fish (BW), Kona Cafe (Poly), Chef Mickey's (Cont), Grand Floridian Cafe (GF), Wispering Canyon (WL)...we also enjoy Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney.

Have fun!!!

Ohana's is the best. See if you can get in around fireworks time or just before so you can watch them from the beach afterwards. The food is real good as well!!

I love all of your suggestions! Our favourite still is the California Grill at the Contemporary- we dream about the oak fired filet of beef. And the special MK fireworks viewing platform with the music piped in is a huge hit with kids and parents alike! :mickey:

We enjoyed Boatwright's for breakfast, but that has been discontinued there. Ohana's is very good for dinner and we like the character breakfast at Cape May Cafe. The Thanksgiving dinner we had at Shutters was just okay.

Boma is outstanding. Our family of four has one meat-eater (DH) and the other three of us are vegetarians (myself, DS & DD). All three of us found plenty to eat & it was delicious. I just asked DS 7 if he wanted to eat there again and he shouted YES! before I could even finish the question. Enjoy! :mickey:

Whispering Canyon at WL is alot of fun. CM's are very vocal and interactive just don't ask for the ketchup unless you want 12 bottles delivered right to your table....

I love Artist Point the most, but seeing that you've been to Wilderness Lodge, i'm guessing you've already been there and Whispering Canyon. Therefore, I will also suggest Boma if you haven't tried it. The food is exceptional, and the AKL a must visit, especially with kids.

Ohona's!!!! at the polynesion is amazing. they have unlimited pork, turkey, steak, shrimp, and pineapple break that they literally cram down your throat. then they have a banana bread pudding desert with ice cream that ties everything together. That along with the fact there is entertainment going on the whole time really makes an amazing atmosphere.

My favorites: 'Ohana (Dinner...lots of meat and enetertainment for kids) at the Polynesian Resort.
1900 Park Fare (breakfast), great food, lots of variety, and the only character event that has Alice, the Mad Hatter, Pooh, Tigger, and Mary Poppins.

And...God help me...all kids like Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary Resort for breakfast or dinner. It is loud, rambunctous, and all kids love it and will remember it for a long time. It's Disney...you're gonna have to take one for the team.

Try Earl's Sandwich at Downtown Disney. The prices were very reasonable, and it is a fast, good alternative to most of the downtown disney restaurants. Besides, the wait staff is very friendly and incorporates the "Disney" way of working.

Up until now, I would have agreed with posters on Cape May Cafe, Boma's, Ohana's. All still way up there on my list- but we have a new champion in Sanaa. Ate there a few weeks ago and loved it so much canceled a dinner plan later that week to eat there again! The flavoring was spectacular, the decor was warm and inviting, and seeing zebra and giraffe from you table is pretty cool. Heck, even the bathrooms were gorgeous!

You must get the Chai cream for dessert- I still have dreams about it.

I wouldn't recommend Boma's for a brunch meal. For the cost of the place, you don't get what you pay for. The food is just average, with some good pieces of dessert... mainly the chocolate pastries! There are much better places you can eat brunch at. However, for lunch and dinners, I hear Boma is awesome!
