Mar. 18, 1837 – Grover Cleveland, the 22nd and 24th U.S. President, was born in Caldwell, N.J. He could be visited along with all the U.S. Chief Executives at the “Hall of Presidents” attraction at the Magic Kingdom at WDW.
Mar. 18, 1858 – Kepple Disney married Mary Richardson. The following year, they would have a child named Elias (the future father of Walt Disney.)
Mar. 18, 1933 – The Disney film “Mickey’s Mellerdrammer” was released.
Mar. 18, 1954 – Disney animator Ward Kimball appeared as a contestant on Groucho Marx’s TV quiz show Uou Bet Your Life.
Mar. 18, 1955 – A ground breaking ceremony took place at 11:15am in Anaheim, Ca. for the Disneyland Hotel. Among the guests in attendance were Roy Disney (Walt’s brother), C.V. Wood (Disneyland’s vice-president & general manager), Anaheim’s Mayor Charles Pearson, and members of the Wrather family (owners of the Disneyland Hotel).
Mar. 18, 1960 – The Disney TV show aired episode 9 of “Elfego Baca: Friendly Enemies at Law.”
Mar. 18, 1962 – The NBC-TV series Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color aired part-2 of “The Prince and the Pauper.”
Mar. 18, 1967 – The “Pirates of the Caribbean” attraction opened at New Orleans Square at Disneyland, with all the figures designed by Imagineer Marc Davis.
Mar. 18, 1967 – The “Blue Bayou Restaurant” opened in New Orleans Square at Disneyland.
Mar. 18, 1973 – Disney’s part-1 of its 2-part TV movie “The Boy and the Bronc Buster” aired.
