Mar. 7, 1927 – The Alice Comedy “Alice the Collegiate” was released.
Mar. 7, 1935 – In the north of Spain, the third of the European Disney weeklies, Mickey-Revista Infantil Illustrada (which means Mickey-Illustrated Child Magazine) was published by Editorial Molino.
Mar. 7, 1936 – Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon “Mickey’s Grand Opera” was released.
Mar. 7, 1941 – Disney’s Donald Duck cartoon “Golden Eggs” was released.
Mar. 7, 1942 – Walt Disney Co. chairman Michael Eisner was born in Mount Kisco, New York.
Mar. 7, 1946 – The 1945 Academy Awards were held at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre with hosts Bob Hope and James Stewart. Walt Disney Studio Sound Department (nominated for “Three Caballeros) lost to RKO’s The Bell’s of Saint Mary in the Sound Recording category. Although nominated for Short Subjects, Cartoon – Disney’s “Donald’s Crime” was beat out by MGM’s Quiet Please.
Mar. 7, 1955 – An Emmy award for Best Individual Program of the Year, was won for the Disneyland TV episode “Operation Undersea.” Walt Disney himself also won an Emmy award for Most Outstanding New Personality. A third Emmy (Best Variety Series, Including Musical Varieties) goes to the Disneyland TV series.
Mar. 7, 1956 – The Disney TV show aired “On Vacation.”
May 7, 1962 – Singer-actress Taylor Dayne, who was featured in Disney’s Broadway show “Aida,” (and who has appeared at the House of Blues in DTD) was born Leslie Wunderman in Baldwin, N.Y.
Mar. 7, 1971 – Disney’s part-1 of its 2-part TV movie “Hamad and the Pirates” aired. (Part-2 aired Mar. 14, 1971)
