Feb. 28, 1929 – Frank Gehry, architect of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Ca. was born Frank Owen Goldberg in Toronto, Canada.
Feb. 28, 1942 – Disney’s Pluto cartoon “Pluto, Junior” was released.
Feb. 28, 1948 – Actress-singer Bernadette Peters, the voice of Angelique in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, was born Bernadette Lazarra in Ozone Park, Queens, N.Y.
Feb. 28, 1955 – Comedian Gilbert Gottfried, the voice of Lago the Parrot in Disney’s “Aladdin”, was born in Brooklyn, New York.
Feb. 28, 1957 – Disney’s “Mickey Mouse Club” was among the Golden Globe winners for Best TV Show.
Feb. 28, 1986 – Veteran Disney animator (and one of Walt’s Nine Old Men) Eric Larson retired at the age of 81. Larson created the kitten Figaro for the 1940 animated feature Pinocchio.
Feb. 28, 1987 – Disney’s “Sleeping Beauty” was released on LaserDisc.
Feb. 28, 1987 – The Disney Channel Premiere Film “Strange Companions” aired.
Feb. 28, 1993 – Disney’s animated TV series “Bonkers” began airing on The Disney Channel.
Feb. 28, 1997 – ABC aired “Walt Disney World’s 25th Anniversary Party”, and was hosted by Melissa Joan Hart and Will Freddie on ABC-TV.
