Feb. 17, 1900 – Actress Ruth Clifford was born in Pawtucket, R.I. (She supplied the voice of Minnie Mouse for such shorts as “Mickey’s Delayed Date” (1947), “Pluto’s Sweater” (1949), and “Pluto and the Gopher” (1950).
Feb. 17, 1906 – Storyman Otto Englander was born in Yugoslavia. His work at the Disney Studios included such classics as “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Pinocchio,” and “Dumbo.”
Feb. 17, 1925 – Actor Hal Holbrook, the voice of Amphitryon in Disney’s animated “Hercules,” was born in Cleveland, Oh. His Disney credits also include the 1970 2-part TV episode “The Wacky Zoo of Morgan City” as Mitch Collins.
Feb. 17, 1933 – Artist Eric Larson married Gertude Jannes in Utah. With marriage, he would seek a new job with greater potential. (Larson would start work at the Disney Studio the following June and become on of Walt’s “Nine Old Men.”
Feb. 17, 1934 – Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon “Camping Out” was released.
Feb. 17, 1934 – Actor Barry Humphries, the voice of Bruce in the 2003 “Finding Nemo,” was born in Australia.
Feb. 17, 1957 – Walt Disney received the Milestone Award of the Screen Producers Guild at a banquet held in the Grand Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Ca.
Feb. 17, 1960 - Disneyland’s Space Station X-1 closed and would be replaced by “The Art of Animation”.
Feb. 17, 1961 – The Disneyland TV special “Bell Telephone Hour: The Sounds of America” aired.
Feb. 17, 1963 – The Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color aired part-1of its 2-part movie “Banner in the Sky.” (Part-2 aired Feb. 24, 1963)
