Fantasmic and park closing

I'm trying to plan a trip for May and noticed that the park hours has the park closing at 9:00 and Fantasmic starting at 9:00. Is this correct? I remember the last time we attended it seemed that the rides were open while Fantasmic was going on.

Usually that is the case, however on crowded days they show two shows of Fantasmic.

I have never been there when the rides were
open during fantasmic. The buses run after the
9 pm show so don't worry about getting back
to the resort. Have a great time.

It varies by time of year, time of sunset, and expected attendance.

Sometimes, when there are 2 performances scheduled and the sunset is late, the 2nd show will even begin 1/2 hour after park closing.
