Jan. 19, 1924 – Lillian Bounds from Idaho (future wife of Walt Disney) started working at the Disney Studio in Hollywood. She had been recommended by her sister’s friend, who was also an employee. Lillian had taken the job because it was within walking distance of her sister’s house (where she was living) and does not require her to spend bus fare!
Jan. 19, 1935 – Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon “Mickey Man Friday” was released.
Jan. 19, 1942 – Award winning star of stage and screen Michael Crawford, whose CD of Disney music was released in Sept. 2001, was born in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.
Jan. 19, 1949 - The Disney film “So Dear to my Heart”, starring Bobby Driscoll, Launa Patten, and Burl Ives was released.
Jan. 19, 1951 – Disney’s Chip and Dale cartoon “Chicken in the Rough was released.
Jan. 19, 1955 – The Disney TV movie “Monsters of the Deep” aired.
Jan. 19, 1964 – The Disney TV show aired “Mediterranean Cruise.”
Jan. 19, 1964 – Teacher-turned-major league baseball pitcher Jim Morris was born in Brownwood, Tx. His story would be the subject of Disney’s 2002 release “The Rookie” (starring Dennis Quaid.)
Jan. 19, 1971 – “Recreacres, Inc.” (which was formed to help buy up property for the WDW Resort) changed its name to Buena Vista Land Company, Inc. (It would eventually be known as WDW Hospitality and Recreation Corp.)
Jan. 19, 1975 – Disney’s part-1 of its 2-part TV movie “The Sky’s the Limit” aired. (Part-2 aired Jan. 26, 1975)
