Jan. 11, 1930 - Actor Rod Taylor, the voice of Pongo in Disney’s 1961 film “101 Dalmatians” was born in Australia.
Jan. 11, 1930 - The 1st Mickey Mouse Club gathered at noon, at the Fox Dome Theater in Ocean Park, Ca.
Jan. 11, 1931 - Writer and composer Mary Rodgers, was born in New York City. Her novel “Freaky Friday” was brought to the big screen twice.
Jan. 11, 1942 – The Disney film “Donald’s Decision” was released.
Jan. 11, 1954 – The Hollywood Reporter ran the front page headline: WALT DISNEY PLANS TV SHOW. (Roy Disney has announced to stockholders, that a Disney television show would be “designed not only to produce revenue but also to publicize all of the company’s product.”
Jan. 11, 1956 – The Disneyland TV series aired part 2 of “When Knighthood Was in Flower” (an edited version of the theatrical release The Sword and the Rose.
Jan. 11, 1958 – Actress dancer & singer Alyson Reed – Mrs. Darbus on Disney Channel’s “High School Musical” was born. She grew up in Anaheim, Ca. and as a teen played Alice in Wonderland at Disneyland.
Jan. 11, 1976 – Disney’s part-1 of its 2-part TV movie “The Whiz Kid and the Carnival Caper” aired. (Part-2 aired Jan. 18, 1976)
Jan. 11, 1987 - Construction began on Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.
Jan. 11, 1987 – The Wonderful World of Disney’s TV show aired “Herbie Goes Bananas.”
