Jan. 9, 1913 – Senior executive and Disney Legend Don Tatum was born. (He would go on to help Roy O. Disney build WDW and assist company president Card Walker in developing EPCOT.)
Jan. 9, 1913 – Richard M. Nixon, the 37th U.S. President was born in Yorba Linda, Ca. He could be visited along with all the U.S. Chief Executives at the “Hall of Presidents” attraction in the Magic Kingdom at WDW,
Jan. 9, 1916 – Administrator and Disney Legend Card Walker was born in Rexburg, Idaho. (In 1971 he would be elected president of the WDW Company – then called Walt Disney Productions.
Jan. 9, 1928 - Disney’s Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoon “Harem Scarem” was released.
Jan. 9, 1937 – Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon “Don Donald” featuring Donald Duck and a character named Donna (who would later be called Daisy) made her debut.
Jan. 9, 1938 – “The Mickey Mouse Theater of the Air” aired its second episode coast-to-coast on NBC radio network. (Sponsored by Pepsodent Toothpaste, the program starred Walt Disney as the voice of Mickey Mouse, Thelma Boardman as Minnie, Stuart Buchanan as Goofy and Clarence Nash as Donald Duck. Mickey and the gang travel through time – thanks to the Magic Mirror (from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) – to celebrate Snow White Day.)
Jan. 9, 1938 – Leopold Stokowski conducted a recording session in Culver City, Ca., for a Disney animated segment called “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”
Jan. 9, 1959 - The Walt Disney Presents TV Show aired the 3rd “Tales of Texas John Slaughter” and “Killers from Kansas”.
Jan. 9, 1972 – The Disney TV movie “Mountain Born” aired.
Jan. 9, 1976 – The “Disneyana Shop” opened on Main Street at Disneyland.
