We are staying at the BLT in April, and I am wondering if we are allowed to go to the Top of the World Lounge? We are NOT DVC members, just staying at the BLT as a regular hotel stay. I have read that originally it was just for DVC owners, but that may have changed? Anyone know? Thanks.

Access to lounge only to DVC members staying on DVC points.

They probably won't change that until they sell out all of the DVC pts. Then it will no longer be an enticement to buy in, so they can use it to whatever is their best advantage.

If you are a DVC member, you can also get access on a cash ressie, not just a points ressie.

You can also get access to the Top of the World Lounge if you rent points from a DVC member and are staying on their points, even though you yourself are not the DVC member.

From the DVC Member website regarding the Top of the World Lounge:

Due to anticipated high demand for this location, access is available only to Disney Vacation Club Members who are staying at Bay Lake Tower using their Membership (Vacation Points or cash), guests staying in the room with that Member, and guests who are staying in a room reserved by a DVC Member with Vacation Points. Access is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you have been up there is it crowded?

It wasn't crowded when we went up there during Dec. 12-19th. We watched Holiday Wishes from there. Others came up and stood behind the rope at the edge but there was still plenty of room and two sides, the furthest one almost empty. It was a little windy, though, and watch out on the walkway from the Contemporary if it's windy. You have to go down to BLT lobby and be escorted to the elevator that is roped off. They use some special key or card or something and off you go to the TOWL. So we had to ride the elevator down from our floor (8th) walk to the lobby, walk back to the elevators and go back up to the top (15th?).:D

We were there in mid-October of last year and it wasn't crowded at all. We went in once for drinks and to watch Wishes, and once just for drinks. It was more crowded during Wishes, but the crowd wet down fast after that. It didn't look like it was anywhere near capacity.
