Jan. 4, 1785 – Writer and linguist Jacob Grimm was born in Hanau, Germany. (He and his brother Wilhelm would collect folktales and help to establish the science of folklore. They would be the first to write down such classic stories as Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty.)
Jan. 4, 1905 – Actor Sterling Holloway (the original voice of Winnie the Pooh) was born in Cedartown, Georgia.
Jan. 4, 1918 – Composer and Disney Legend Norman “Buddy” Baker was born in Springfield, Missouri. (He would compose nearly 200 scores for Disney Motion Pictures, TV, and theme parks. Among his musical contribution would be TV’s “The Mickey Mouse Club,” and the Haunted Mansion theme park attraction.)
Jan. 4, 1936 - Disney’s Mickey Mouse cartoon “Mickey’s Polo Team” was released.
Jan. 4, 1937 – The first cells of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs were taken to the Disney Ink and Paint Department at the studio on Hyperion Ave. in Ca. (Walt wanted the film completed for a Christmastime release.)
Jan. 4, 1943 - Original Mousekeeter Mary Lynn Sartori was born in Glendale, California.
Jan. 4, 1943 – The Disney Educational film “The Grain That Built a Hemisphere” was delivered to the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs.
Jan. 4, 1952 – Disney’s Goofy cartoon “Father’s Lion” was released.
Jan. 4, 1956 – Disney’s part-1 of the 2-part television movie “When Knighthood Was in Flower” aired. (Part-2 aired Jan. 11, 1956)
Jan. 4, 1956 – Walt Disney and a handful of his staff lunch with animation pioneer Max Fleischer and his son Dick at the Disney commissary.
